I have seen A Chorus Line, twice actually!
Hah, it’s a funny story with that musical, really.
The first time I saw it, I hated it. Honestly, truly, absolutely loathed it. The characters pissed me off, and I kept rolling my eyes the whole time, thinking they didn’t “need” this job at all, and that they should get over it, get a real job, and stop whining and hoping.
Then I saw the same Broadway revival production for the second time with my sister, and I just…got it.
I think a big part of it had to do with the fact that I was seeing the show with Case, whose number one dream is to make it on Broadway, and I just completely empathized with the characters and really got the message and meaning behind it all.
Also, the music is superb.
So, yeah, A Chorus Line is now one of the musicals I really enjoy (somewhere in my top 15, maybe?) and I’m extremely glad I got to see it again and give it another shot.
